About QR Code Generator
QR codes are two-dimensional symbols that can carry a URL or short text. The destination is determined by the encoded value, not by this generator after the file is downloaded.
Use a short, stable URL when the code will be printed. Leave a clear margin around the symbol and avoid placing it on a curved, glossy, or visually noisy surface.
The preview is fetched from an external QR image service, so avoid sensitive content. Always scan the final printed or placed code; a successful preview does not guarantee readability at production size.
Decide what the QR should do
Write the exact destination or message before generating anything. A QR code can carry a URL, contact detail, short instruction, or plain text, but every extra character increases symbol density and can make a small print harder to scan. For packaging, a short HTTPS URL that you control is usually easier to maintain than embedding a long product description. Ask whether the destination will remain available for the entire life of the printed stock; a beautifully generated code is still a broken experience if its link expires.
Create and verify the content
Paste the content into the input, review punctuation and capitalisation, then inspect the preview before downloading. Pay particular attention to query parameters, hyphens, trailing slashes, and copied whitespace. Scan the preview with more than one phone if the audience uses mixed devices. A scanner may show a harmless-looking result even when a URL points to the wrong environment, so open the destination and verify the page, locale, and tracking parameters separately.
Size, contrast, and placement
Leave a clear quiet zone around all four sides of the symbol and keep dark modules against a plain light background. Do not stretch the PNG independently in a label editor. Avoid folds, seams, glare, transparent film, and heavy curvature, all of which reduce the camera’s ability to find the finder patterns. Choose a size based on the furthest realistic scan distance and test the final physical dimensions; an on-screen preview at 400% is not representative of a small parcel sticker.
Static versus changeable destinations
The downloaded code is static: its payload is fixed at generation time. Editing the destination later is possible only when the encoded value is a URL whose server-side page or redirect you control. This page does not create a short-link account, collect analytics, or provide a dashboard for changing campaigns. If marketing or support needs scan counts, select an approved redirect and analytics service separately, and disclose that redirect behaviour where privacy policy requires it.
Troubleshooting weak scans
If a camera struggles, increase the printed size, remove nearby artwork, restore the quiet zone, improve contrast, and print a fresh sample without fit-to-page scaling. Shorten the payload when possible and avoid low-quality screenshots of a code. Test under warehouse lighting as well as office lighting. A successful scan from one phone is encouraging but not certification; the receiving workflow, camera lens, label stock, and motion all affect the result.
External service and update note
The current preview PNG is requested from api.qrserver.com, so the entered content is sent in the request and should not contain secrets, private addresses, tokens, or regulated data. Review your organisation’s third-party service policy before using it for sensitive labels. The page’s current visible controls support URL/text input, size, error correction, and downloadable artwork; they do not promise offline generation or analytics. Frequently asked questions about QR Code Generator
- Can I edit the destination after downloading?
- No. The QR code stores the content encoded at generation time unless the URL itself points to a page you control.
- Does this provide QR analytics?
- No. It requests a PNG from api.qrserver.com and does not provide scan tracking or a short-link dashboard.
- Is QR generation fully local?
- No. The entered content is URL-encoded into a request to api.qrserver.com so that service can return the PNG. Do not enter secrets or personal data.
