About Barcode Generator
This page reads a CSV and turns each valid Code value into a Code 128 PNG. Quantity controls how many copies are rendered; it does not assign product identifiers.
Keep the quiet zone around the symbol, avoid stretching the image, and choose output dimensions that preserve the bars. A high-resolution file can still fail if it is printed too small or with poor contrast.
For shipping labels, generate only when the carrier or platform explicitly expects a custom barcode. Reusing a product code as a shipment identifier can cause operational errors.
Choose the identifier before the artwork
A barcode image is only a visual encoding of a value. Before opening the generator, decide whether the value is an internal SKU, an inventory location, a purchase-order reference, or an identifier issued by a standards body or marketplace. Do not invent a value when a carrier, retailer, or Amazon workflow requires a registered identifier. Keep a source table that maps each code to the product and revision so a later reprint cannot silently receive the wrong symbol.
Prepare a dependable CSV
Use one row per barcode and keep the required Code field free of accidental leading or trailing spaces. Product Name is useful for human review, while Quantity controls repeated renders; it does not alter the encoded value. Check that spreadsheet exports have not converted long numeric identifiers into scientific notation or removed leading zeroes. Open the CSV as plain text once, inspect the first and last rows, and confirm that commas, hyphens, underscores, and non-ASCII names are intentional before uploading.
Code 128 and print geometry
This page produces Code 128 symbols, not a universal barcode that can be swapped into every retail or courier workflow. Code 128 can encode letters and numbers, but the receiving scanner still needs the expected application identifier and value. Preserve the generated aspect ratio, keep a clear quiet zone on both sides, and avoid placing bars across a fold or glossy seam. If you resize, use a high-quality export and check that narrow bars remain distinct at the final physical width.
A production-safe test
Download a small batch first, print one copy using the same printer, stock, darkness setting, and scale that production will use, and scan it with the actual handheld or receiving application. Test a short value, the longest value, and a value with punctuation if those are in the batch. Scan at normal orientation and after the label has been handled. A screen preview can look perfect while a thermal head, low contrast, or missing quiet zone makes the physical sample fail.
Common failures and fixes
Unreadable output often comes from clipping, a code printed too small, grey bars, a busy background, or a spreadsheet that changed the value. Regenerate from the original text rather than editing pixels. If only one row fails, isolate that row and inspect its characters and quantity. If every row fails, verify that the receiving system expects Code 128, that the image was not stretched by a label template, and that the printer is not applying fit-to-page scaling.
Privacy, compatibility, and update note
CSV parsing and image generation run in the browser in the current page workflow, so the tool does not register identifiers or send a catalogue update. Still, treat the file as sensitive if it contains product names, internal codes, or customer references, and clear shared downloads according to policy. The current implementation supports PNG previews and a ZIP download; it does not provide EAN, UPC, SVG, GS1 registration, or marketplace certification. Guidance is current to October 10, 2026.
